    How is travel with IEA unique?

    The IEA travel program is focused upon getting the most from the travel experience through the cultural and historical aspects of the region, and is led by an experienced IEA professional educator, in addition to the local guides and experts. The itineraries are carefully chosen, the participants are dedicated to the learning philosophy of the trip, interactions with local people and local experts are encouraged, along with group discussion and social interaction, with value-added experiences along the way.

  • Is Travel Insurance available?

    Yes. Participants are encouraged to consider travel insurance, and in some cases it will be included in the price of the program.

  • Can I Travel Alone?

    Yes. Many do. You will soon meet new friends, and you may choose a single room (with a supplement) or you may wish to share with another single traveler if available.

  • What Class of Accomodations May I Expect?

    IEA seeks to provide its travelers with comfortable, well-located and safe accommodations in First-Class or better hotels depending upon the itinerary. We believe in the importance of of relaxing and quality surroundings after an active day. In more remote areas the best available will be chosen.

  • Cruising in Europe
    Is There Free Time to Explore on One’s Own?

    Yes. Although the days will typically be full of exploration and activity, one can elect to use free time at will, and are encouraged to do so. One may also choose to pace the level of activity if needed. In most places there will be additional opportunities to explore, choose an optional tour or activity, relax and read or write, or pursue special interests where time permits.

  • Are All Meals Included?

    Typically one can expect a buffet breakfast to be included each day. Aboard ship all meals are included, and on other travel, depending upon the itinerary and country, some, but not all meals will be included, so that travelers may experience special dining opportunities on their own and have choices in their experiences.

  • Is Medical Attention Available While Abroad?

    Yes, in most cases there are hotel and shipboard physicians available. Travelers are expected to be aware of any health conditions before travel which may compromise or restrict them or the group, and should carefully consider the itinerary and its challenges before travel. Medications/prescriptons should be brought along.

  • Dressing for Dinner in Asia
    Is it Difficult to Call or Communicate With Home While Away?

    Typically not. You will leave your itinerary and hotel phone numbers at home, and you may be able to buy an inexpensive international phone card in the country you visit to make calls home when needed. Also, many hotels have access to computers for emails, along with many CyberCafes along the way.

  • What Extra Expenses May We Expect?

    Meals not included, beverages of choice, personal expenses, occasional optional tours and events not on the itinerary, discretionary tips to guides,etc.

  • What Pre-Departure Information Might We Receive?

    You may typically expect a bibliography, recommended guidebooks, a packing list, any travel advisories or related information, helpful hints, and itineraries and related information to assist you in your travel planning and preparation.
